About

The Broken Tail is an occasional blog mostly about the media business, journalism and the like.

I am a television news and documentary producer who lives in Denver with my wife and two children. I’m an avid, if not graceful, skier and distance (i.e. slow) runner.

I am the Executive Producer of News and Documentaries at HDNet, the all high-definition cable / satellite network owned by Mark Cuban. I produce HDNet World Report, the network’s signature weekly news broadcast, which focuses on international affairs, in documentary style. I also oversee original documentaries, and NASA on HDNet, which, through the network’s exclusive relationship with NASA, broadcasts launches in HD.

Prior to joining HDNet in 2006, I spent 13 years at ABC News. Like many ABC vets, I believe I have PTSD from my time there.   My last position was Senior Producer for Special Events at Good Morning America. I produced historic broadcasts from around the world, from Vatican City to Jerusalem, from New Orleans to inside the White House.

While at ABC, I also produced for PrimeTime Live, 20/20, and This Week.

I’m a graduate of Vassar College (though I still have nightmares that I didn’t because I forgot to finish one paper … see a pattern here?); my opinions are my own and do not necessarily reflect those of HDNet, my wife, children or dog, Lucky.

    Hello Dennis,

I am in the DFW area, and I am currently working on a project involving Super Bowl 45 week.
I would like to involve HDNet in this project from inception to finale. Is there a secure way I can deliver you the pitch?

Cheering you on from frigid Chicago. Fun to read the Conan perspective and your Republican wimp rant. Keep it up. Love to the other D, plus C & B.
